The thing single-unifying-language fans never got was why Lisp lost. People keep trying to reinvent the square wheel, but it's just pipes into other shit that wins. Languages that you can build pipes with beat languages you can't, every single time. Nobody gave a shit about JavaScript until XMLHttpRequest was added, Unix beat everything by just having pipes, and if Lisp wasn't so shitty with I/O, history might have changed. (It was destined to be shitty with I/O; Common Lisp was the last artifact produced by the culture of truly monolithic systems.)
