Anyway, one difference between Darwinian evolution and “God works in mysterious ways,” in light of neither being deterministic, is that Darwinian evolution still offers rules that govern outcomes, whereas “God works in mysterious ways” does not. The genes of a population – usually at the species level – will consistently gravitate toward whatever mutations make them reproduce more. God working in mysterious ways, by contrast, means who the fuck knows what.
