“Feed Views” might be a good word for this, in contrast to “algorithm”.

Even a suggestion algorithm that’s simple and completely transparent could be fine.

I’m on lemmy a lot these days (it’s much like Reddit). And it’s been great to sort by “hot” or “old” or “new”, in part because I know what it’s doing.
