I have a lot of sympathy for this POV. That’s certainly the kind of person I am in my own social life, off and online.

I also believe that there are both individual and societal benefits in having social media that has no single owner, and isn’t an arm of surveillance capitalism.

I want people to have that choice. And I don’t want frustration, confusion, or hostility to be barriers to it.

I don’t care whether Bluesky is popular. I do care whether Mastodon is accessible.
