I don't care if BlueSky gains popularity over Mastodon. At this point, I don't wanna be on the dance floor with the cool kids, imma be in the side room with the five weirdos I like.

I have a lot of sympathy for this POV. That’s certainly the kind of person I am in my own social life, off and online.I also believe that there are both individual and societal benefits in having social media that has no single owner, and isn’t an arm of surveillance capitalism.
I want people to have that choice. And I don’t want frustration, confusion, or hostility to be barriers to it.
I don’t care whether Bluesky is popular. I do care whether Mastodon is accessible.
