Allowing current status quo to dissuade you from learning is short sighted. I'm not saying there's any particular (knowable) reason to learn any particular thing, but learning for learning's sake is I think a sign of a developed mind. Unless something is wrong up top, e.g. you're mega depressed, you ought to want to know things. Even useless things, so long as you're vaguely interested. If political theory isn't vaguely interesting to you, skip it.
