It is a bad business model for small teams. It's a great business model for large corpos like Red Hat or Google. Android being open source allowed Google to quickly kill all competition and almost entirely own the smartphone market in order to later close Android down.

Ironically, :rms: and his freetard foot snack connoiseurs ended up helping to create the greatest proprietary monopolies in the history of mankind. Google runs Linux, after all.
