   I am testing out https://micro.blog & it reminds me of a scaled down version of #Tumblr. It supports #MarkDown but uses an interesting WYSIWYG post editor that will make it easy for newbies to use.

   It does support #ActivityPub but it’s partial & lackluster at best. For example, I can see my #Mastodon account but not #Pixelfed (which is odd). I will try it out for a few more days before arriving at a verdict.

     @darren Setup is easy, but it's passwordless to login. You click a link to login.

     It reminds me of WordPress & Tumblr (a mixture of both) with #ActivityPub partially baked in (at least for #Mastodon thus far).

     How is that even remotely interesting. You have to pay 5$ a month to access the Fediverse.

     @darnell I first tried WordPress ActivityPub plugins, now I'm testing Pleroma. Fairly easy setup, looks good, federated and runs very well on a $6/mo 1gb Vulture instance. But something in-between might be best for me.

     @marqle @roelfrenkema @mastohost Yeah, although the implementation of #ActivityPub is wonky though. They offer a 10 day trial & the features are interesting (they even have plugins too).

     #MicroBlog has potential, as it’s implementation of ActivityPub is ahead of #WordPress. However, it is no where near #WriteFreely & I would use the latter over both if you desire a blog who fully embraces ActivityPub.

     @roelfrenkema That is the danger of centralize systems. Fortunately I think the website could be ported to WordPress if that happened.

     But you are right about being wary though.

     @darnell At first the was to learn more about Fediverse, but now I'd like to control my own presence on a manageable platform, and maybe let a few friends on it.
     Running on a Raspi would be a plus.

     @darren Go for it! Yeah, that is the one thing I love about the #Fediverse is that it gives you far more control over your digital presence. Okay, two things: the ability to interact with unrelated platforms.
