Actually this poll is not accurate unless you know what the users are using. For instance Friendica has less users but all these features. As I run friendica.roelfrenkema.com too and fedilab to interact I would love to have these features.

What do you mean by native apps? Where do you have connection to Mastodon where you wouldn't have to Friendica

There is are apps like Fedilab for instance supports it 100%.

What is the friction for non techies you would not have on Mastodon.

Have you even tried Friendica? Not only is it easier to install, maintain and host, it also has a plethora more options on-board. You should at least base your criticism on facts.

It is when it's not vulontarely. Nothing stops them to raise the price. It's just another commercial grift.

And then it was time to say goodbye to https://masto.host Hugo has been a great help to get me started on Mastodon and understanding some of the inner workings. Now my own instance is stable and I understand what I am doing I feel secure enough to go on without managed hosting.

I thank Hugo @mastohost and I can advice all to use his great service.
