   Okay, so looks like the instance I'm on hasn't been handling misuse well and is going to get defederated from some other servers. Soooo, what instance do y'all think I should move to? And is there any history/experience of anyone with this size a network migrating instances that I could learn from?

     Is there a service that will host a single Mastodon account for me (not an entire instance) but let me alias it to my own domain? I don't want to run an instance, but I would like to control my address/handle.

     @evan @anildash Is it lonely, though? My solo instance was such a bummer to be on that I started Friend Camp specifically because I was tired of flying solo and having no local timeline

     @darius @anildash this isn't strictly true. I used Twitter back when it had a public timeline. And identi.ca had a public timeline, although at its peak it was completely unmanageable; hundreds of posts per minute. I guess I don't find the model appealing, and I think groups and lists work better and are more intentional. YMMV!

     @anildash https://masto.host lets you run your own instance without having to actually do anything. They manage all updates etc.

     That said, new sign-ups are closed for the time being, but maybe @mastohost has some updates on when they might reopen?

     @anildash 10/10 recommend #hachyderm mostly because of how seriously they're taking the governance / organizational infra challenges alongside the tech e.g. https://community.hachyderm.io/blog/2022/12/04/growth-and-sustainability/
