@f0x @GoyGirl I think it is kind of trivially known that legitimately fearing for your life is a thing that hits some very deep parts of the brain and if the kid thought that his father was going to drown him and he's out there going "This is how you're supposed to raise kids!" it's not a matter of getting exasperated and stepping over the line and not a matter of positive vs. negative rewards. My daughter rejected her mother's help, so I told my wife to let her alone, and not help anymore. If she fails, she fails, then she can reflect on the fact that she rejected help and is now facing consequences because of that. It was homework.
But I didn't realize she could have become wildly depressed from getting a bad grade, and that could have lead her down a road towards crime, wherein she could have fallen in with a gang of thieves and murderers, possibly even time travelers. Who's to say she wouldn't have traveled back in time and murdered owl as a baby?
I murdered owl with my reckless parenting. Matty should just delete my account right now. -

That is correct, and there is danger every time I have my son use a tool, go grab something from the shed, bring over the tractor or pickup truck, is even outside for a minute because there are wild animals out here in the boonies, there are always places where things could go wrong.
Life requires a certain amount of risk to be lived. Even sitting in your house, there are risks of gas, fire, tripping, whatever.
The risk that some people are overreacting about, makes it sound like I held my son's head underwater or something demented like that. I don't understand why they would purposefully lie like that. No physical difference between throwing him in the pool as you would for swimming lessons or for fun. -

My son would not have died and was in no danger at all. He is a beginner swimmer but can swim. The purpose of the exercise was to instill fear and seriousness of the panic of being helpless in the water, like his sister felt, in a safe and controlled manner.
It doesn't matter what I say anyway because retards read one thing, interpret it the way they want, and stick to it even if their position makes no sense. Ie. "He went back to shit posting after recalling this story, what a terrible father!" - ok retard.

I think Tyler wrote his original post poorly and was more expressing anger and frustration than being transparent with every detail. Probably not in the greatest headspace, which is understandable.
