So I found out through some digging last night that the claude app can crash simply by having windows explorer open. This seems to be a problem for a lot of people who use it

I take this as a good thing because it means Windows usage is dropping dramatically among anyone who seriously programs

@RustyCrab the macbook neo was a bigger threat to microsoft than years of linux arguing was because microsoft had to say "WE'RE FIXING WINDOWS 11 SAAAAAR" as a result

@geistigbehindert @RustyCrab Case in point, Wardogs dropped Linux to switch anticheats for the second beta week or whatever.

It was like being told "put the fries in the bag" even though the devs said "we're gonna try to make this work on Linux since it works on The Finals and Arc Raiders".

No Linux support for WarDogs closed beta this weekend despite support in previous playtest.

@RustyCrab the one use case windows has is multimedia software and gaming, because linux users keep eating crow every time a game they like comes out and has some anticheat (but won't buy a Series S)

@sneeden yeah me too. Download process explorer from Microsoft and use the handles search feature. Three times in a row now I found out that Windows explorer had some kind of claim on it and I couldn't restart until I killed it

@binkle @PurpCat @scathach yep i get it. All organizations need to hire game developers for a few months to look at what they're doing and call them retarded. The bar is NOT high here

@scathach @PurpCat if you got a team of competent people inside Microsoft with an interest in fixing windows I'm betting they could do it reasonably quickly. Most of it is probably unfathomable choices like having the desktop run a web framework

I've heard stories of the big tech application selection process and the way it's orchestrated is that if you're turned down you can never be considered again for any reason. So if they just happen to be on a big H1B sprint that month because they wanted to bring over their cousins and you applied during that window, you're banned from the organization forever.

@RustyCrab @PurpCat Might be possible if they took the NT kernel and had a team using pentiums with 256mb of ram redo the userland from scratch

@PurpCat @RustyCrab when somebody says I need to play garbage zoomer slop I don't nod and agree. I tell them they have garbage taste and should go play old single player games instead. The OS is irrelevant to that. "PS5 has no games" is a meme primarily repeated by millennials for a reason.

@geistigbehindert @RustyCrab said replies to threads about this, Apex, and more are also evidence that Linux users want games, and that the "I never wanted to play this anyway" is an excuse/cope like when someone gets canceled on Twitter like "it was never good", etc.

Though I do know of 2 people, one a mac guy and one a very autistic Linux nerd who bought consoles to play games online.
