Trying to explain the mechanics of bag milk to another American and it's like "you know that plastic shitty little half pitcher thing you keep on the 4th shelf in your kitchen, like right at the top because you never use it? Yeah you can literally combine that with an IV bag of milk to create your own jug..."
It's absurdly simple, but until you see it in action, I'm not sure you can picture it in your head.

@AnarchoNinaWrites Pre-1990 East Germany could not afford much oil and plastic, so zero plastic bottles, but we had those milk bags and pitchers. Also always milk on the floor in supermarkets.

@GreenSkyOverMe Real alcoholics remove it from the box so they can squeeze it to insure every drop gets out. And they do this at parties, where merely being wine is their defense against excess.

@GreenSkyOverMe @AnarchoNinaWrites I can also remember this from West Germany up to the 1980s. Tetrapacks replaced those things extremely fast at some point, but the bags did absolutely exist.
