Anyone got any recommendations for extended fairy tales?

Alternately, the classic fantasy type where an unlikely group goes on an adventure together. There could be overlap here, which is why I decided to keep it 1 post.

   Thanks! #Bookstodon

@pussreboots Something maybe like the Books of Beyern by Shannon Hale for the first one, or or Frog Kisser! by Garth Nix or the Unicorn Chronicles by Bruce Coville for the second.

@Fragglemuppet Give me an example of a book you've enjoyed that fits your description so I have a better idea what to recommend.

@Fragglemuppet Unlikely group on an adventure (plus kind of cozy): The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong.

@pussreboots Wow, that's a long list! Thanks! I have read the first 2 books in the Frog Princess series. Fun, but I got caught up in other things. I'm looking up the others now.

Steven Brust, 'Brokedown Palace'. It's a standalone, not part of his Jhereg sequence (and not particularly like them IIRC).
(I do have to say, I loved it last time I read it, but that's 15 years ago. I'm rereading it now, and so far so good, but I'm only a couple of chapters in.)

@Fragglemuppet Have you read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke? Fairies, strange journeys and weird magic in 18th century England.
