     @miscbrains @scathach @KaiserKitty i think the reason the movies always stick to the same subset of the entire plot is because its the one that is actively coherent and has the nice ending everyone likes.
     
     it doesn't run too weird against franks "i just wanted to tell stories about cool muslim knife fights in space while on cocaine" containment clauses and you would not in fact still love dune if the emperor was a worm :blobcatgooglybadumtss:
     
     mostly all jokes i already told earlier in the year though

     @miscbrains @KaiserKitty @scathach too good of a writer to ignore the compulsion to shut people up about "why don't you just do this other obvious thing instead of the cool thing" while otherwise clearly having the story he wanted to tell and jamming it in to place.
     
     which i don't fault him for but it has to be respected for the "shut up, look at the cool sword fight" devices they are :ablobcatderpy:
