   Got a question for you #Mastodon - what is the ethics of creating an account here for a #podcast I really like? I've had a crazy thought of creating an account for the "In Our Time" podcast on #BBC. I enjoy it every week and thought it would be an interesting way of adding some interesting material to the #Fediverse.

   I've had the idea since the BBC's experiment here in the Fediverse. I am convinced that it would have been more successful if they had created accounts for select programs and journalists, not the stations (which are too broad for a platform that encourages niches).

   Good idea? Bad idea? Couldn't care less?

   Does one get permission, even if I plaster the account with "JUST A FAN ACCOUNT" or "NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE BBC"?

     @evan @318133 Thanks for the heads up about this. It is helpful but I think I had something a bit different in mind. First, as you are intimately aware, hashtags are so critical in the Fediverse for getting information around. Most if not all of these bots don't post hashtags. Not only basic hashtags for information but also Fedi specfic ones like Histodon, LichenSubscribe, Mosstodon etc.... Second, the show has over 1,000 back episodes on every topic imaginable. I feel like it would be awesome to not only post about the new episodes but also throwbacks to the extensive archive. I think I'm looking to do something wtih a bit more of a human touch and in line with the quirks of the Fediverse.

     @jmccyoung It is really awesome! Look through the back catalogue. They have over 1,000 episodes on every topic imaginable. I used to use them as beginner bibliographies when I was teaching and trying to get a handle on a subject. Enjoy!

     @seanbala I think it's a great idea, and I can't imagine the BBC would object as long as you do as you plan and make it clear in the account header that you're not affiliated with them. I wasn't familiar with the program and I'm going to send a note to an assisting priest at my parish who's half Welsh and very interested in its history.
