  I respect the math'ing & science here - truth even - for sure, but I used to have my article defending mating with VERY far, different ethnicities from myself 😆 (by ethnicities, I mean WHITE, but not close to me ethnically).
  
  There's strong cases for the diversity, too. But I don't believe in harm from 3rd cousins, either, & I still think ethnic purity is noble, too.

  I doubt third cousins pose much higher risk of deformity, than genpop. I’ve been curious about looking up an optimal genetic distance for mate selection; I doubt it’s quite that close but I think everyone within an ethnic group is something like 14th cousins or closer.

  I’ve posted the maths on this before. Optimal is relative term (pun noticed but not intended), and staying in your region historically meant you were closer than third cousin twice removed. I mention explicitly in the posts that I don’t recommend people hook up with their cousins, but the maths suggest it isn’t likely to cause issues from genetics alone.

  Oh, for sure not. Gross. It's funny to me how different families can be/vary in affection & description of each other (my husband's family doesn't touch/hug at all, ever crack a sexual joke, or compliment members looks even basically - i.e. "my sister is pretty").
