     the point with #newsom is to defeat him in the #primaries

     we don't have to proactively defend him and assume he already won the nom

     after the nomination, we vote for whomever is nominated because we're not stupid. #MAGA is far worse

     but now, in 2026, we savage the fuck out of newsom

     because newsom is a piece of shit

     we show up in the primaries in 2028 and choose the left opponent

     and anyone who doesn't #vote in the primaries needs to shut up about newsom and #politics entirely

     @benroyce Every cycle we see this. Biden isn’t liberal enough! Kamela isn’t liberal enough! Newsome is really just a republican. Sure, there are parts I’m not happy about, but great Cthulu they’re 1000x better than what we ended up with because of the precious, toxic idealism!

     i think we need to learn to shut down these "not left enough" toxic idealism voices automatically

     just accuse them of being right wing trolls. because the toxic idealism psyop is so easy, anyone can play the silly game

     they will protest

     so you merely note that even if they are genuine and not trolls, all they are doing is helping MAGA via divide and conquer and suppressing vote turnout

     they won't admit anything

     but everyone else reading along can see they are fake or fools

     I just read of Talarico winning the primaries and, almost simultaneously, I read the post of a smartest-of-smart guy blaming this choice for not being left enough 🤷
