I’m not in a part of the US with a Wegmans food market, but I always had the impression they were some of the good guys. And I just saw they still write about diversity and inclusion on their website when others have deleted that recently.
So why is Wegmans doing biometic scanning in some locations in NYC? The signage says says it’s to "protect the safety and security of our patrons and employees.” But how does it do that? It seems it could instead put them at risk if shared with organizations such as ICE. (The posted policy about sharing the information does not preclude such sharing, as long as it’s done for free.)
