It doesn't really matter how he dies if it's not a public execution. By making it public, you create an event that cements in the minds of the people the idea of boundaries and punishment for over-stepping them.

I say he should be sentenced to death by stabbing. There's nothing cruel and unusual about being killed in the manner you killed someone. Lex Talionis is as ancient as time.

I'm just pointing out that in the US "cruel AND unusual" has been erroneously interpreted to mean something akin to "humane."
By historical standards, leather injection, the electric chair, and the gas chamber are unusual. Cruel? All executions are cruel in a sense. They're not torture though.
Lex Talionis is neither cruel nor unusual, it's just, and should be brought back as a form of punishment. It would certainly deter certain types of violence. Lethal injection is foreign to the mind and means nothing. Getting stabbed when you've stabbed is far more cognizable.
