      @Tadano @VIPPER @jimmy @meso @yomiel the old thinkpads work well as office machines i suppose but once you require any performance they are left in the dus, no?

      @skylar @Tadano @VIPPER @jimmy @meso @yomiel friend this is just the windows laptop experience after 2015
      >buy new dell in 2018
      >get it home
      >windows update
      >no longer sleeps
      >apparently Microsoft changed the way it interacts with sleep states, requires a small bios change
      >check Dell for bios update
      >nope

      @Tadano @VIPPER @jimmy @meso @yomiel thinkpads are some of the worst laptops on the market
      i had one as a work laptop years ago and will never buy anything from lenovo as long as i live

      the screen was dim as shit, not to mention some dogshit resolution like 1280x800. the keyboard layout was insane and they moved the control key to put a function key in the corner. the whole thing felt flimsy and sometimes you had to use an absurd amount of force to get the power button to work. it had a latching lid and if you were the slightest bit off center when closing it, the lid wouldn't latch. it would constantly fail to recognize one or more external monitors and require a reboot before it did.

      @yomiel @VIPPER @jimmy @meso honestly astounded by how anyone tolerated the sheer power inefficiency of early Intel laptop chips. And the throttling! I'm glad Apple's lighting a fire under the laptop industry's arse with ARM chips.
