This excerpt is from The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout, Ph.D

By this measure Christianity is a religion that empowers psychopaths. Because mercy for the sinner (Matthew 5:7, Luke 6:27-36, 1 Timothy 1:16, Matthew 9:13 / 12:7, Matthew 18:21-35), and withholding of judgement (Matthew 18:21-35, Luke 6:37, 1 Corinthians 4:5) is the hallmark of Christianity.

According to Bartolomé de las Casas who was an eye witness to the Spanish Catholic conquest of the West Indies, that alone resulted in the slaughter of 50 million indigenous people in the name of Jesus (also land, gold and slaves). That was just one short span of time from one relatively small part of the world, which easily rivals the death toll of Mao's regime. Add it *all* up, and those examples you mentioned are barely comparable. Never mind the implied fallacy of relative privation.

That's one way to frame it. Another is that it breeds narcissists (a type of psychopath), since the entire religion (really a glorified superstition) is about being holier than thou and the One-True-Way®, whose shit doesn't stink, and if you disagree you are Satan/evil/demonic/whatever. The past 2,000 years of history has genocide after genocide to show for it. It's as reliable as sunrise. Promote the BuyBull and there will always continue to be violent retards trying to forcibly shove it down everyone else's throat. Same for the other Abrahamic superstitions too.

      > by converting people

I consider that part of the problem as much as it was any kind of solution. The entire premise of colonisation of the new world was the Doctrine of Discovery. Converting people to avoid an ethnic cleansing is really just using the threat of violence as an excuse to conduct a cultural genocide. It really doesn't absolve anyone.

      > Christians were oppositional

Some, sure. Just like there's somewhere in the range of 1-5% of Jews who are opposed to Zionism. But it still remains that the whole premise of Columbus' actions was based on Catholic doctrine. The Anglican's and other protestants no less so, as they all adopted the Doctrine of Discovery as the pretext for their colonial activities.

Also, the colonisation of the New World is just one example of a pattern which has repeated itself ad nauseam since at least the 4th century right up to the present day, practically non-stop. It's a feature of Abrahamic superstitions, not a bug.
