It takes ten thousand hours to become an expert at something, according to Gladwell. And at this stage I have *easily* achieved that in The Fucking Washing™. Which is why I get so cross when Trish constantly tells me I've done it wrong. I HAVE NOT DONE IT WRONG I AM AN EXPERT. It is exactly the same as disagreement within the scientific community about a thing. Her theory is that you should allow washing to pile up, creating an enormous backlog, then wash it in small batches so that when you put it out (spaced out across an airer literally designed to hold two or three times the volume of washing) it dries quicker. My theory, which is correct, is that any loss in drying time from doing all of the washing and then hanging it out, is mitigated by the fact it's done and in the process of drying. Critically, clean, and not festering in a disgusting contaminated pile. My way - sure - the house is always damp and there is washing everywhere - but it smells nice and we have clothes to wear. Her way....... barbaric. Literally what would happen in caveman times. Have we not evolved?! Yet another symptom of Broken Britain.

@TheBreadmonkey @greem @BenCotterill @purplepadma mine insisted on being connected to the internet and likes to tell me it’s time for the filter to be cleaned. This is how Terminator began.

I tell people I left Twitter because that creepy bloke took over, but the truth is my smart washing machine got more followers than me and started making sarcastic quotes tweets from my posts, so I rage quit.
I put Tesco brand washing powder in one day and it changed our WiFi password out of spite.

@BenCotterill @TheBreadmonkey ah. The dishwasher. My wife now mostly leaves this to me, but I still have to stick my hand into a fetid washing up bowl soup to fish out the cutlery that’s lurking in there amongst the sharp knives. That and teabags left in cups by the dishwasher are extremely triggering for my processes.

@swisslet @BenCotterill @TheBreadmonkey it’s not worth me even trying to touch the dishwasher, Tom is absolutely anal about it and has rules about the angle of forks and the gap between plates. Just one of the reasons I sometimes wonder if he is on the spectrum
