just learned about Abilify MyCite, which is aripiprazole (an atypical antipsychotic), except it also has a little sensor that sends a signal confirming that you took it and dear gods that is so terrifying I just stared at my screen in horror for 5 minutes
the usual very overprescribed medicine that fucking lobotomizes you at higher doses, except now it also spies on you
"yeah sure let's spy on schizophrenics that will definitely help them" what the fuck- 10π🍇 likes this.

@hellomiakoda yup, it's activated by contact with stomach acid which generates a little bit of power and sends a signal to a patch on your torso that then sends that to an app on your phone -

@elsie @hellomiakoda Sounds like a job for a cup of vinegar situated on your lap.

@elsie @hellomiakoda Imagine being clever enough to come up with that but also so dumb you tell people about it.

@elsie @hellomiakoda no, I mean, whoever came up with that shouldn't have made it

@ryanc @hellomiakoda I mean, it's not really possible to hide this, because of patents and also the fact that it's in medicine and obscuring information about what is in the pills would probably piss some agencies off -

@maxthefox @elsie @hellomiakoda If you know tech bros who come up with shit like this you know they imagine and promote it as high tech like that but it's usually the dumbest possible halfass implementation. I'd give it a 90% chance vinegar works, 99% chance hardware store muriatic acid works if not.

@dalias @elsie @hellomiakoda Vinegar might not work but HCl if you can get a hold of it (doesn't need to be concentrated) probably will.
It might also be really sophisticated and check for enzymes etc which are present in the stomach-- in that case uhhh vomit into a cup and strain out the solids or something. Ew.
