   Using these notes again, at least some parts of them, to upgrade an older ASUS K53E laptop. It had a very slow hard disk drive, 4GB memory and on legacy boot. Upgraded to an SSD, 8GB memory and did the conversion to uefi boot (had to manually enter the UEFI boot path in the BIOS - \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Bootmgfw.efi - to get it to boot).
   
   The owner wanted to keep using it to "keep it out of the landfill". After the upgrades, it is still not a great laptop, but will be much better performance than it had before and will meet her needs.

     @ins0mniak @mitchconner @matthew The pp, is a call and text device than can browse the web. You can use android apps but the battery is meh. Ultimately its usable (wayshit makes it worse imo) but you will be missing things a shit android phone can give you.
     It needs all new front end stuff.

     @dcc @mitchconner @matthew Yeah I wasnt going to pay extra for something like that. Its a neat toy but it just doesnt serve me much of a purpose beyond that.
     
     I have a pi I carry around in my bag that I just shell into which is pretty comf.

     Do you think forks of Android will continue, given the recent news about only approved verified apps being able to be run on it?
     
     I use an old Samsung S5 Neo with https://e.foundation/ on it now as a backup device (alarm clock, camera, messaging). My laptop serves as my main phone, text, email and other uses - connected with a mobile access point.
