I send my boomer dad Hitler/ nigga heil hitler instagram reels to annoy him and he will then call me from his landline and be like "HOW DO I GET THIS HITLER BULLSHIT OFF MY CELL PHONE!!!"
he literally cant figure out how to get out of instagram on his phone and resorts to powering down the phone and restarting, even though i have shown him numerous times how to swipe out of an app
@Owl@hellhammer >everything that i don't like is bait no, i just assume most of the things *you* say are bait when you you're talking to me 🫶 :jahy_smug2:
here's a serious and overly long spergout if you want an actual answer, don't bother reading it if you're not interested: the st*am deck sucks because you have all the downsides of a modern portable system (shit battery life, shit specs, expensive, big) with all the downsides of troonix (if you want to play anything that's not in your st*am library which is arguably the only thing it's good at, you CAN install windows on it if you really want to though but you're still dealing with a desktop OS on a small screen and without a physical keyboard. also i just hate the prepwork involved) and all the downsides of pc gaming (modern unoptimized titles, older titles that you need to troubleshoot because the os/hardware is too new, bloated install sizes unless you're playing old titles, etc)
i'm not saying buy the switch 2, fuck no lmao buy a used switch 1 and hack it if you REALLY must, at least it'll be lighter, cheaper and slightly more pocketable i'm just saying don't buy the st*am deck because it's THE overhyped r*dditard machine (all x86 handhelds are), anything it can do other things can do better in fact, i don't like and wouldn't buy ANY of these jack-of-all-trades-x86 machines (i was considering one of those gpd clamshells with a keyboard to play ffxi on when i was mildly drunk but then i sobered up and realized it's a stupid idea because the only times i bring portables outside is on train rides and unsurprisingly LTE is shit and unstable when you're going at 150-300kmh and when i'm inside i need to be having an incredibly shit day to not get out of bed/stay on the couch all day and even then just... just fucking stream the thing from your pc to your phone/tablet if you're at home anyway, steam link or whatever actually works pretty well), they're all the same: too expensive for what they are and can('t) do
>i want to emulate shit your phone (get your finger off of that > key right now owl, i can see you and i know what you're gonna say) covers the basics, just add a cheap universal phone controller holder thingy, if you want to emulate the gamecube/ps2/wii/3ds they work just fine on an SD855+ (most high end phone made in 2019+) >good phones are expensive buy used, buy chink phones like xiaomis/pocos (especially pocos) or ZTEs, buy used chink phones (i snagged a used sd8 gen2 leading chink phone with a few scuffs for 200€ and it works just fine aside from android being the worst piece of shit software ever after jellykino) >but i really hate phones buy new/used dedicated handhelds like anbernics, odins, etc. >but i really hate android (based) see above, they have models without android (based) that typically top out at the PSP, are pretty cheap and very pocketable >but i hate chink handhelds buy a psp go/lcd ps vita (finger off of that > key right now owl) and mod it >but i want to emulate the switch just buy a used switch and mod it, they're dirt cheap and it's not like the steam deck handles it that well and you hate >nintoddler games anyway >i want to emulate the ps triple no, you don't. and wipeout fury hd is unplayable at <60 fps >i want to play pc games at <800p lowest settings on 7" screen (so virtually the same experience as a switch but oftentimes with shitty FSR upscaling slapped on top) sounds miserable but sure then, get an x86 handheld. you could just stream them from your pc at home though, it's not like you don't have decent lte/5g in the us >i want a super portable pc that can optionally do the above get a clamshell one with a keyboard at least
i just really dislike jack of all trades decent at nothing devices, the compromises just don't seem worth it to me >but a modded switch has the same issues overall yeah but to a lesser degree. it's substantially lighter (the difference is like one ugreen 10000mAh slim battery pack) and from what i can tell its battery life is similar to a steam deck with battery-saving settings (power limiting, 30hz, etc) >games look worse on average on the switch oh ABSOLUTELY but it's not like they look good on the deck with all the compromises you have to make anyway, the FSR look is dogshit >deck is foolproof as far as downloading and installing steam games yeah, if you need to install non-steam games you're always gonna need to tinker with stuff to some degree and at that point installing NSPs/homebrews on a modded switch is probably easier in most cases >so you'd get a switch and mod it? no, i sold mine right when the sephiroth dlc for ssbu dropped because i just didn't use it that much anymore (along with the gpd xd+) it was right around the time when i stopped needing to take those 6+ hours round trips to the hospital every few months >so what would you get now? finger away from the > key, 'ight? probably a used m4 macbook air (not the base model though) >but that's more expensive than a steam deck yeah. it's also that much better at being a computer >but that's less portable than a deck/switch yes it is. but i'd need a backpack anyway to carry either of those so i might as well just bring a proper laptop and one of those slim 8bitdo snes-style controllers (the SN30 is great, too bad i accidentally ruined mine) >but macos macos is fine (though mojave was arguably the last great version) >but ARM between rosetta 2, crossover (essentially WINE but it just works), the game porting toolkit, running games in a windows VM actually being viable (>but xeraser didn't you just sperg out about tinkering this tinkering that? yeah i did but to me what's important isn't the amount of tinkering required, it's whether tinkering is required at all) and quite a few games and emulators getting proper ARM ports it's not that big of an issue >apple yeah i don't care, bait and mock all you want, it works for me >i just really like the form factor of x86 handhelds dunno what to tell you then, go for it as long as you get something with better specs than a deck for the price
look man, i just don't like those things, they always make me go "this is a miserable experience, i'd rather just wait until i get home" (just like the switch did but at least i set my expectations according to the price) before i whip out my phone to emulate etrian odyssey or radiant historia or the 495238239458th emerald playthrough because it's the only happy childhood memory that hasn't faded away yet :deadinside3:
>Everything that I don't like is bait This retard is buying a console that is not only driving the cost of video games up inorganically but is just now getting to the point where SOME of its titles can play at 60FPS.
@Xeraser Greater fraction of generation using computers=greater fraction of incompetent computer users But tech illiteracy and not knowing what a floppy is really isn't the same. Who cares?
And also who the hell CAN work an office printer? Those things suck.
