     @skinnylatte Ooh, I'd like to hear your thoughts on how the ride was. I've always wanted to do an Amtrak trip (but I'm also very cautious about staying masked indoors).

     @mntyfrsh I’m like medium cautious (generally mask but if I’m hungry I’ll take it out to eat). I have never gotten flak for masking. Ive done a few trips. You could do a short one like the one to San Jose or Oakland or Sac in the other direction

     @skinnylatte Ooh, have fun! I really wanted to take trains on a family trip to LA and Santa Barbara last week, but with six of us it was too expensive. Enjoy it a little extra for me!

     @skinnylatte I took the train from Chicago¹ to SF. 48 of the best hours of my live.
     ¹(longest part of a NYC - NO - CHI - SF trip with 100h² on trains in 4 weeks).
     ²(still mind-boggling how *big* the USA are. I'd reach nearly every major city in all of Europe in less than 24h by train …)

     One of the highest bits of praise I can think of for trains as a mode of transport is that they are pleasant and magical •even when it’s Amtrak•. Neglect and disinvestment oozing out of every pore, and it’s still nicer than the freeways into which we throw our money, our planet, and countless lives.

     I used to take the train back and forth from Boston to Albany and from Chicago to Albany when I was in school. Still my favorite way to travel!

     Two years ago, we took the train from Portland to Vancouver and the coastline north of Seattle was stunning! Worth the whole trip.

     @lasolas depends on the route. If overnight I would prefer the roomette. There are some trains that are long but mostly in daylight that I would prefer coach.
