     Eyewitness testimony will become so important moving forward that there will likely be streamlined processes for the authorities to access data dragnets from Google, Apple, telecoms, etc in the immediate aftermath of a crime. If your phone places you within a few blocks of a crime, you're getting a knock.

     @matty @Hoss @Terry video evidence now completely inadmissible as evidence so now anyone can do stuff with impunity. it’ll take a long time to actually get people to stop believing videos but you kind of can’t any longer, considering cctv grainy footage or other footage taken under duress has an even lower quality than intentional video recordings like movies

     @Hoss @Orkin_Awk @matty @Terry that’s really interesting. it’s probably how they’ll push for the populace to accept the implicit tracking becoming explicit tracking too. they introduced so many aliens that willingly commit crime as useful idiots to create a problem they can solve. they would’ve brought them in anyway but never let a good crisis go to waste am I right?

     There was definitely at least a partially intentional effort to create context for this inevitability. Best we can hope for is that there will be enough privacy-respecters near the levers of power when they start building the architecture for this who will do their best to keep it from being a complete civil rights nightmare, but they won't stop it. This is coming in some form no matter how many Rand Pauls we have sitting in the Senate.
