   saw someone post 'i'm asian american and i want to move out of the bay area and go to a cheaper place to live but i'm worried about food' and everyone's like what does asian have to do with it

   someone had to asian-splain: eating out is an east asian pastime so it is difficult to consider places without massive dining out food scenes for most of us, no matter how much money you can apparently save

     @skinnylatte had a really good convo with my korean diaspora EMDR therapist about the visceral experiences of going to the asian supermarket. yes i could get my groceries delivered by say weee but do i want to ? no.

     my own mother told me she could NEVER move to America / the Bay Area because there are NOT ENOUGH FOOD OPTIONS FOR HER (compared to Singapore)

     look, i have seasonal affective disorder in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, as it is. oregon would be challenging

     @skinnylatte Yeah, the PNW is not a good place for people with SAD. A friend with it who moved from the Bay Area to Portland has a hard time in the Fall and Winter every year.

     I love the darkness up here, but I grew up around Santa Cruz CA and I like to think I got enough sun for a lifetime.

     Can confirm. While in Portland I've been using a full spectrum "happy light" nearly every day.
