@skinnylatte what do you think would be the criteria for a place to be included?

To my fellow big white guys.
Come to all the protests of this administration that you can. The right associates our appearance with masculinity. When we show up it challenges the right’s idea of white masculinity and manhood, they hate that. This does mean that at smaller protest we will be yelled at directly more, but it’s worth it.

I’ve participated in many protest over the past year. Today was a small impromptu one of mostly women. I was the only tall white guy there, and it became very clear just how much my presence upset the right-wing man-babies. They yelled at me directly trying to attack my masculinity. It was comical, and I’m glad I was there.

@skinnylatte It's interesting how different countries handle that stuff.
The weird one is that US citizens who live and work abroad still have to pay US taxes. One of the many reasons, my family members in NZ recently renounced their US citizenship. Which was a whole nightmare due to the US budget cuts.

I have ideas as to why this the case, but I’m not a psychologist. I studied psych and anthropology in college but didn’t get a degree in either. So I’m not in a position to make wider claims about the source of the behavior, it’s just one of those patterns that are both obvious when you see them and sometimes easy to miss in the heat of the moment.

Something I realized decades ago and always seems to be true is that toxic abusive people will always accuse whomever they’ve decided is their opponent of doing what they themselves are doing or want to do. You can see this all over the place in politics, at work, in relationships, and in gaming. The key is how quickly and aggressively the toxic person jumps to the accusations when negative attention gets remotely close to them.

@skinnylatte Yeah, the PNW is not a good place for people with SAD. A friend with it who moved from the Bay Area to Portland has a hard time in the Fall and Winter every year.
I love the darkness up here, but I grew up around Santa Cruz CA and I like to think I got enough sun for a lifetime.

OMG! Trek Culture just put out a video ranking ALL Starfleet uniforms. You couldn't make a Star Trek ranking video more laser targeted on me and my strong opinions on Starfleet uniforms. I know what I'm watching for the next hour and a half-ish.

@0xabad1dea It's a funny thing how so many of us were told we get more conservative and right wing as we got older. In contrast I think most gen x and younger have gotten more left wing as we've aged. I'm a millennial who just turned 40 and I know I'm more left wing than I was in my 20s and teens.
