   One thing about management you have to understand is that the higher they are, the more politically minded they have to be to do their jobs, and that means they don't understand the concept of independently verifiable truth, or interpersonal trust. They only understand trust in authorities. Anyways, that means that they will always say whatever is the most convenient for them at the moment, and don't even consider it lying. It's just something obvious that anyone smart would do.

     But that means they don't trust words. They will never believe things you say to them just because you said them. They will always need some "proof", even when they have no way of actually understanding and verifying the proof. Anything that has a real cost is needed, because words alone are cheap to them.

     This is also why they will sometimes go into a series of meaningless reorganizations and changes. They are not attacking you. They are trying to communicate the only way they know.

     @silverwizard According to my limited experience, they don't really believe the grifters. They just do whatever seems more convenient and beneficial to them at the moment. Of course they will *claim* that they did it in good faith when the thing inevitably explodes, and they are in fact the victims, but that's just covering their asses. Words mean nothing. Look at their hands, not their mouths.
