     @phnt My favorite boomer trope is you can tell them one thing, you can make the best argument possible for why you should do this, and because you're a young little shit or something it will go in one ear and out the other (boomers know best).

     Then they're calling you to fix the piece of shit you told them not to buy, because boomers love to kick the can down the road with computer problems.

     Or when you instruct them with detail how to do something and they do it their way and wonder why you complained because they did it for you.

     If you recommend them something or even TOUCH / change ANYTHING even slightly they will expect you to be lifelong technical support and feel entitled to it since they will blame YOU specifically for anything that goes wrong with the machine even if it's years later

     @skylar It's one of the laserjets from the MFP series or something like that. The retarded ones that require you to set up an HP account with the HP smart phone app to even enable the USB port.

     do not, under any circumstances, buy a consumer inkjet printer. only buy inkjet at all if you're doing like professional graphics stuff and need that printer technology for a specific reason.

     @sendpaws @skylar I would never buy a Canon, because they only sell inkjet printers to the consumer market and almost nobody prints enough to use the cartridges before they dry up. Their office laser printers aren't that bad.

     Aside from the "large tank" printers that everyone is selling now; most of their "pro" inkjet printers are photo printers either designed for or optimized for that. They even sell a $150 printer that can do 13x19 printouts.

     Their office laser printers are literally what HP buys the engines from and rebrands them, and they've done that since the 1980s.

     @skylar @phnt my dad still uses a 20 year old laserjet he took home when his old office closed. I replaced the pickup roller a few years ago, other than that it still functions perfectly.
     
     In that time, I think we went through about a dozen color inkjet printers.
