   You were also using different software. Like I said when you said you were gonna run Mastodon, Pleroma federates Likes and this fills your instance up with posts liked by people you follow. Mastodon does not do that last I checked.

   I made an entire website to share this data: https://fedilist.com/ . It's easier to quantify if you define it, but I don't think "frequency of posts on TWKN during the hours you are awake" is a reasonable way to do that.
   
   You can also do things like this:
   
   :mycomputer: select count(split_part(actor, '/', 3)) as count_3day, '72 hours'::interval/count(split_part(actor, '/', 3)) as avg_freq, split_part(actor, '/', 3) as host from activities where data->>'type' in ('Create', 'Announce') and inserted_at > CURRENT_TIMESTAMP - '72 hours'::interval group by split_part(actor, '/', 3) order by count(split_part(actor, '/', 3));
   
   And that lists the post frequency by instance of posts that arrived on your server over the last three days, but only if you are running Pleroma; I don't have a Mastodon server running (ever) so I don't know how to do it there off the top of my head, but it's probably actually easier.

     The RSS feed is pretty useful. Like, this gives status changes for all of the instances in this thread: http://fedilist.com/instance/recent-changes?host=clew.lol,ak.parcero.casa,nicecrew.digital,poa.st,postnstuffds.lol,shit.poster.place,fsebugoutzone.org . And there is a link to an RSS feed on that page, so you can add it to an RSS reader. There's also Prometheus-compatible data. Lots of fun stuff.

FediList has a target of one attempt every fifteen minutes, but because it is now running off this shitty residential net connection, it's slower than it used to be. I'll rebuild the army of boxes at some point after I get some work.

     I shut pleroma down like a week ago for some updates. It was only for like 2 minutes, but shouldn't that affect uptime?

     @graf @NonPlayableClown @Tony @dj @koropokkur @verita84 Like, right now, with three machines running workers, it's averaging about 34k instances per hour, about 41% of all instances running behind schedule. It stayed at 0.2% behind schedule when it was at 75k instances per hour.
     
     Starting up a couple of workers on a VPS or two with fat enough pipes would likely get it up past 75k; a really beefy one might make it easier to actually run it from there. On the other hand, since I moved all the data storage to Revolver, I don't know how the throughput would be affected. I think it improved it but it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison. I do know that it eliminated about 100GB of data from Postgres (and the block-level de-duping helped significantly).

It was on my mind because I was talking about the GG Allin documentary that Todd Philips did (the guy that did the Joker movie; he says he based some of Joker on it): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hated:_GG_Allin_and_the_Murder_Junkies . The movie opens up with a John Wayne Gacy quote about GG and then some footage of GG's birthday party where he sticks a hotdog in a lady's ass and then pulls it back out and eats it.
     
     It is a really good documentary if you are able to appreciate that sort of thing.
