@HonkHonkBoom @ChristiJunior @Rasterman @lethn I've tried many times lately to use KDE plasma for more than 1 day, but I always find issues or behaviors that are just... atrocious to have to endure. Like, GNOME's file manager and file picker (which right now are the same thing) are miles better for the way I work than Dolphin (KDE's file manager), search on gnome isn't a headache and is fast, unlike kde's, there's the inherent bugginess of KDE (I've reported many issues, some were 'lol wont/cantfix', others were already reported for years, another has a forgotten PR from a month ago, and whatnot), and it uses more power (considerably) than gnome on my laptop.
This is all on an intel laptop, which only has a FOSS software stack for its drivers, so imagine how bad it must be on nvidia.

@mischievoustomato @Rasterman @ChristiJunior @lethn Something wrong with the current revisions of KDE/Plasma? Working okay for me, desktop crashes lil too often for my liking, but easy enough to restart plasma without messing anything up.. First experience with wayland on this install, i don't hate it yet..

@mischievoustomato @ChristiJunior @Rasterman @lethn It's really plesant, highly responsive, few oddball issues, but I'm coming back to nix from a few years on windows, so, i mean, like somebody's who's been eating dogfood for years judging steak quality,, Gnome might be good now, i didn't care for it back in the 2010s

@mischievoustomato @ChristiJunior @Rasterman @lethn yeah, dug into gaming for a good bit, so in 2016, it was windows, or frustration if ya wanted to play most current games, got sick of windows breaking itself and rebooting on its own with updates, so i disabled um, for like 4 years... and things finally started breaking with new software, so, finally let it try to update, and yeah, boom, inaccessible boot device, nothing seems to recover it, drive is fine, no problems at all, windows just shit itself in an unrecoverable manner, restore points don't work now, yay, lol, and had been at the end of my rope with their shit, and saw how capable mah steam deck was and just didn't feel like putting up with microsoft acting like its their computer , not mine.. so, why not fedora? it was always great for me in the past. Got back into the modded game of Baldur's Gate 3 i was in the middle of when windows died after a bit of fiddling before too long, and it runs fine, but display manager seems to have problems with 4k 120hz hdr, so had to switch to 60..

@HonkHonkBoom @ChristiJunior @Rasterman @lethn yeah. I didn't have major problems with windows myself, but i just wanted to use linux since it seemed cooler and nicer, and now I don't wanna go back to it. I have a very special setup that I can't let go of.
As for hw issues, i think gnome 48 (which will come with fedora 42) will probably fix your hw issues
