@tk The Cybertruck weighs ~3.1 tons, below the 3.5 ton limit allowed under Category B. Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: repeated this. -

@thatbrickster @tk https://www.motor1.com/news/747709/tesla-cybertruck-seized-in-uk/ makes it seem like it might be possible for TSLA to comply with UK rules if they wanted. Otherwise, it seems really strange to make the truck without considering the requirements of all the places one intends to sell them. Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

@tk Tesla quotes the load limit as 433kg. The AWD model would be below the limit but the Cyberbeast model would exceed it. Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

@lnxw37b2 I heard of the story. The concerns were mainly about those who could be hit by one, not so much about its weight (but would play a role in crash safety).

@tk And to be honest it would be kind of fun if you'd need a actual truck driver license for US-sized vehicles, imagine MAGA nuts having to pass psychological tests. Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

If they needed a CDL they could never drink alcohol. The BAC limit drops to 0.04% with a CDL. That's like one beer. It would kill the entire alcohol industry or cause a violent revolution. One or the other. Probably both. -

@feld @tk Yeah tbh I really wish people driving most motor vehicles wouldn't be intoxicated (and I guess basic psychological test against like anger issues), but I think it would never pass in USA except in maybe some very large cities. Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

@feld @tk After all hard part of it is that even if you have somewhat good infra, there's people in rural areas where public transit isn't much of a thing. -

@lanodan @tk @feld I mean DWI is already illegal out here in the USA but the BAC limit generally isn't exactly zero. It's always some weird decimal percent like 0.08%. -

@seanking @tk @lanodan The reason for 0.08% is that we got the federal government to mandate that has to be the limit or they would withhold funding for roads. It can be lower, but it can't be higher.
