   Imagine a government that is ran like a business, instead of a slave plantation.

   Instead of paying taxes each year, citizens get a dividend check off of revenue from tariffs.

     @ILoveAmericaNews not much of a dividend if you have to pay for it via tariffs first, but just reducing spending to pre-ww2 levels would already be amazing. no income tax is very nice either way because of the privacy implications.

     Bullshit.

     You can charge for access.

     For instance, Trump's $5 million visa program has 200K applicants already. That's $1 trillion revenue.

     He says he can sell 1 million of them. That's $5 trillion in revenue.

     That's just one example.

     America is going to become the global tax haven for all the wealthy, educated, and innovative people.

     Anyone that wants access to that market, will have to pay massive tariffs.

     Our technological innovation will blow away the rest of the world!

     What other business gets to add a cost to other people’s products and redistribute that?
     Government can never run like a business because it isn’t subject to the forces of profit and loss. It can attempt to approximate a business but unless it’s willing to go bankrupt should it fail then it will never truly run as a business.
     It CAN start actually firing people who fuck up which would be nice.

     @ILoveAmericaNews i mean, both sides will have to pay as their will be a new equilibrium price somewhere in the middle. it's nicer than an income tax but it's not free money, there's no value created by taking money away on every transaction with foreigners
