@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain I used to be a fan of pharmaceuticals and wouldn't hesitate to take a pill if I thought it would fix something.
Over the last ten years I have become far more sceptical. -

@KeepTakingTheSoma I have to be in a lot of pain to take pills. I've always been a bit sceptical. KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain Same here. In the last four years I've taken a total of 10 painkillers. -

@KeepTakingTheSoma Unfortunately, my arthritis is getting worse, so I've had to resort to some over the counter pills just to be functional. KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@KeepTakingTheSoma It's a bloody nuisance. I only tend to take painkillers if I need to leave the flat. I wish they'd hurry up and find a cure. KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@TriptychTwinsRidesAgain @KeepTakingTheSoma I wish everyone could have access to a really good western medical herbalist and acupuncturist like I did when was very unwell with all this post viral pain etc, she made all the difference and got me back on my feet again. I also saw a western herbalist for menstrual skin problems too, later 20s, and wish could have seen one earlier, again made all the difference. Not all are created equal though, so one does need to research and shop around, but money is the issue, not everyone can afford it, but if they were available as part of the general NHS book, instead of the money they pish up the wall on shit. Some people are always going to need meds and painkillers too, but this can have such a beneficial effect I wish it was available to everyone. Unfortunately, she stopped coming up here when lost the room she worked from and traipsing to town was not on, added cost, the time factor, the rushing, and worrying if train was late, not being able to go straight home, drink plenty of water and reast after it, used to end up with a banging headache, so stopped trying to see her there.

@HebrideanHecate @TriptychTwinsRidesAgain I used to be sceptical about alternative medicine, but I've found myself exploring it lately with more interest. -

@KeepTakingTheSoma @TriptychTwinsRidesAgain Herbalism in the hands of a properly qualified person is very good and has plenty of this works attached to it. I have also had acu that was fucking awful, weirdly enough, they were Chinese, so that seemed odd, but there you go, the words a positive menace came to mind, so you need to look carefully. Napiers always have good people working for them too. There is also a bloke in town who is superb and also so bloody nice, kind and all round great bedside manner that have seen in the past, but again, the distance.

@KeepTakingTheSoma @TriptychTwinsRidesAgain I used to get bad break outs with my periods and that did help it, see also atrocious PMT, and when I was seeing the German woman for the pain and what have you when became unwell it also did make a massive difference to the PMT, as a by product of the treatment if you want to call it that. But I was lucky that could afford the treatment, many can't. Same re private dentist at the moment, and the Highland Dental plan insurance thing, it's all very well people saying oh it doesn't cost that much but it does if you haven't got it.

@KeepTakingTheSoma @HebrideanHecate @TriptychTwinsRidesAgain A lot of non-alternative medicine is just alternative medicine put in higher concentration or singular form with a few dangling molecules added for patent. Herbs have too many things going on to be isolated and studied in the way pharma pulls things off with drugs. Herbs also have varying concentrations from plant to plant, even based on what other plants they were grown near!, making dosing very hard to do precisely. The ultimate irony would be taking seven pills prescribed that can all be found in a single herbal (not that I know this happened, but it could).
