     It's pretty loose but generally people define a windows manager as literally just the part that sets and renders windows, whereas as a desktop environment is generally 2 or more programs or a software suite. by this definition even I3 is technically a desktop environment whereas bspwm or awesome are just window managers.

     it's also just a window manager not a full fledged desktop environment

     for me personally tiling wms are great to operate servers only, where you work with CLI interfaces anyways and benefit from keyboard-centric workflow as well as less bloat and instability than full DEs

     @mischievoustomato Yeah, I've never interfaced with a server that had a GUI outside of initial installation GUI. Beyond that, just SSH in with terminal and do everything via CLI. @Cyrillic @yomiel @kirby @dagda @meso

     @dagda I just don't see a huge point considering you will hardly ever be inside the machine past initial setup of services or running maintenance/updates. Plus, basically none of your systems on the server are going to have GUIs anyway. @Cyrillic @kirby @meso @yomiel @mischievoustomato
