@authen >conveniently leaving out Marx, Engels and their successors scientifically and philosophically explaining their critique of Anarchism as petit-bourgeois utopian idealism for decades
@taylan@pernia@p I mean you basically found it out yourself. Being the "computer guy" is all you can do to support feminism, because the groups you would enjoy to work with won't work with you beyond that
> My problem is that I expect better of nerds
Intelligence is usually dominant in specific skill trees. Someone may be mathematically intelligent but suck at making art. Someone may be artistically intelligent but suck at geography. Someone may be geographically gifted but suck at social intelligence. Someone may be socially intelligent but suck at learning new languages and so on. Nerds that I do meet IRL most often have insufferable political ideas, the most basic "left"-liberal, green party, "We need to invade putler" "Poor people need to hunger to stop climate change" "The governement and online community jannies should censor everything unpleasant in the internet" parodies of libshit brain degeneration. How I still survive hacker spaces? Keeping my mouth shut and doing the electronic/computer/crafty thing I came for and nothing else. Your problem is failing to see that most nerds are not really that deep in areas where you would want that, and may very well be one-trick-ponies with the technology thing. Which is completely fine because the good thing about civilized society is people can do the thing they are good at and let others do the thing they are good at, leading to general compensation of flaws and general nurturing of talent. I know with you this is more personal for the whole cancel situation but realistically you already do the thing you can as stated above and considering many nerds are bots in political thought you can just wait for /yourthing/ to become the next /currentthing/ meta that they will just repeat for good noodle points. That /currentthing/ is so important in the west atm is because liberal bourgeois "democracy" is in it's late stages and becoming more totalitarian, just like some socialist states that failed necessary reforms became a lot about bureaucrats and authoritarian normies that love to lecture people upheld the orthodoxy even more to the detriment of people around them. It will pass, also it's geographically limited to the imperial core so maybe vacation in a country outside the imperial core can be relaxing.
@p@pernia@taylan now hear me out i got actual advice for Taylan: The problem with "talking politics" online is the autistic idea of winning over people with factual arguments. The truth of the matter is that this part is like 1% of what winning over people is. Take me for example: When I would propagate that someone elses framework of understanding the world and economics is heccin fake and gay (bad kind) and liberal and bourgeois they would just respond antagonistic or disinterested. When I tell them I actually believe in human relations and culture not dictated by exploitation and profit and build them myself the story is different. F. ex. I like music, so I do a non-commercial radio show. I like video gaymes so I sometimes do speedrunning events at my local library to show people you can be creative with games instead of consoooooming them, even meeting others in the process and inspiring them to host their own speedrunning/ LAN/ couch coop events. I like technology so I do some stuff in non-corporate hacker spaces. This is more appealing than saying "Uhm yeah I'm a socialist but only because I read books and realistically I'm just a doomer who seethes at capitalism without doing anything concrete to organize my class or at least preserve the niches in society not dictated by profit." Hell I don't even get antagonized by rightoids on Fedi that much because my interactions with them is mostly shitposts or unpolitical, I don't constantly try to establish muh superior moral and scientific position or muh heccin godgiven right to fediblock them and on rare occasions I'll even acknowledge when they are accidently right on something. What you need is a target for your political brainrot, where you have a space and concrete timeframe for containment, and outside of that just vibe with people over other things you like and keep political discussion on Fedi to occasional shitposts. If I'm right with my assumption where you live the german communist party should be active there. These people are on average like 80 years old, so they won't go batshit over you not supporting the trans thing 100%. Go to the 70 year old guy who looks like he has a "Stasi informant allegations" wikipedia section and tell him "hey, I'm a leftist but have yet to dive deep into marxism-leninism, can you recommend some resources to get a hang of the basics on 100 paper pages instead of 9000 and do you need some help for upcoming organizing stuff?" Do some stuff at the party, when you leave their building don't let your brain rot in politics because you have an established time and space to do that.

@snacks@kim@zonk it's rated 16 and up tho. The art direction is also more Zoomer like with bright colors and diverse heros. It was on the horizon, mixing kids and adults in gaming communities always ends in disaster, also F2P meaning basically no barrier of entry
@zonk@kim@snacks it's a tactical bomb defusal FPS which plays the same as CS basically while featuring some hero shooter elements. I know someone who is active in the competitive scene and apperantly the child grooming situation is pretty bad
