January Tesla sales are down 75% in Spain, 63% in France, 59% in Germany, 44% in Sweden, 38% in Norway, 42% in the Netherlands, and 33% in Australia. I guess being a nazi is bad for business. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Niall apparently people's hatred for Elon outweighs their love for the environment which just goes to show they never actually cared about the environment or global warming.
or they actually do understand that EVs and personal choices cannot possibly outweigh the damage being done by corporations, governments, and natural disasters like wildfires and just didn't want to admit it. They just internalized it but were afraid to speak up. -

Can we not conceptually separate the existing cars from the Muskrat? The reason a lot of people bought Teslas was that they wanted a smaller environmental footprint. The cars are pretty good for that*. Burning them is not good for that and then you need more cars*
Sorry if I'm taking you too seriously. People didn't take Trump or Project 2025 seriously either and look where that's going.*Yes, I know public transport is best but for a lot of people in a lot of places it's not an option.

@TheNovemberMan @MeanwhileinCanada
Reports indicate that there are nearly 50,000 Teslas sitting in parking lots across the USA alone — so many, they can be spotted from space.
and I hear they combust... pretty easily...

@feld @Niall Unfortunately, most people either don’t know or want to think about how incredibly polluting the US military is compared to whole fuсking countries. Of all the carbon emissions that the US as a country puts out, about 1-2% of it is its military; which, given the sheer size of the US, is greater than the amount of CO₂ that Denmark belches out.

@SlicerDicer @feld The head of Australia/NZ Tesla told me in a phone call they 'didn't want people like me' getting their cars on the cheap. A few years ago he got busted for insider dealing and is now barred from being a company director. I guess he meant honest people?

@SlicerDicer @feld nice. I got my first as a crashed car in '17 and found out the hard way that Tesla don't like people working on their own cars, especially not crashed cars. They disabled features, withheld repair information and refused to sell parts. So I found a Jordanian who could restore features and bought my parts second hand. I've been saying fuck them since 2017, getting hate from the Musk lovers and the haters. Great cars, shit people once you get above technician pay grade.

@feld @Niall I’ve owned mine for 12 years now, since brand new and keep fixing it. Why? I actually like the car. I really really like the car. It’s my super space car.
Incidentally I’m one of the early people to stand up and put my neck out. That got horrifying rage from the Elon mob. All as I demanded right to repair and parts. Now from that legacy me and others put down? Tesla has full parts available and best I know it’s the only company with full service manuals free.
I can’t tell you how much hate I got though for asking for parts. Simple parts back when the entire narrative was no maintenance car. Well some parts go bad and I should be able to get them quickly. Now I can get most in 2 days or less.
