     @glynmoody The Concorde wasn't build by Boeing or some other US company, so it has never existed in the big brains at Silicon Valley ;)

     Also: Concorde was never allowed to fly *over* the United States because of sonic booms. Or at least that was the FAA excuse.

     @cstross reused a stashed-away BA Concorde in one of his Laundry novels, and it was hilarious.

     @ParadeGrotesque (small clarification: it wasn't allowed to fly *supersonic* over inhabited land. It was very well OK to fly over land subsonic) @glynmoody @cstross

     @glynmoody Also, the Soviet's flew their Tu-144.

     I lived west of Heathrow while Concorde was still flying. On some routes leaving Heathrow, it would make a turn and climb out above my neighborhood. Just house shaking can't-hear-the-person-on-the-phone loud.
