Now that LA is on fire, my plans for my parents’ itinerary on the west coast has fallen flat.

Can someone give me ideas on a 2-3 city thing that does not involve renting a car? They don’t want to drive on ‘the wrong side’ and I.. don’t want to drive.

Assume San Francisco is the start and end, but there’s Monterey of course, which also means we can fly out of San Jose.

@RobotDiver yeah it’s high on my list, worried it’s too cold for them (in 2 weeks), but maybe that’s ok

@Adventurer yep, definitely. We might fly to Seattle from San Jose

Is Portland, Or or Seattle an option? Both have good public transportation.

@skinnylatte Sonoma region, where it’ll be cool but plants are starting to bud out. Vineyards aren’t crowded/busy, so one can visit them at a slow pace.

Screw the few square miles ablaze: SoCal.

Or for slight so-cal empathy: San Diego or Joshua Tree or similar, beyond LA.

@skinnylatte I'd be tempted to stay in/around SF. The city has got reasonably good public transportation (by US standards). And there's enough inside the city limits to keep you busy the whole time. You can also take motor coach tours to places like Muir Woods in Marin County (just across the Golden Gate Bridge). And Caltrain to San Jose and BART to pretty much anywhere in the East Bay (and even down to San Jose).

@jbrewer_jera they’ve been to SF many times. Not opposed to staying put, but I do want to show them maybe 1-2 other spots
