Hey Masto, I can't even remember the name of the video platform in the fedi because last I looked it was not done baking.

A lot of people on TikTok, and I mean a lot are saying they'll leave if Meta buys TikTok.

    Prime opportunity. Helloooo.

But I know it's not done baking enough to onload all those people from TikTok.

    Shame really.

    Wonder where they'll end up.

Oh and Meta WILL be co-owner with TikTok if it's not already. I think it is already.

When creators upload a video now, if they have the messenger app on their phone, it opens.

And on Facebook & Instagram, you can now add your TikTok account.

@elfin they solved the problem of downtime. No refunds to porn subscribers for 2min 36sec downtime.

TikTok openly went down under the guise of a ban.

      Then voila! Back up again.

Enough time to "update" with new software!

      Fucking brilliant

When I moved a streaming porn company from a data center from Santa Clara to San Francisco (at 0300) my DNS transition was three minutes. The owners paid out $300k to users that couldn't see sec for that time. $5/month, the propriators tossed $150k in "oops" in five minutes.

      My bonus was exceptional.

Lesson learned: email servers die at night, porn servers get maintenance early afternoon.

@elfin @juliewebgirl Why did you have to remind us that Horde exists? That thing was terrible... I had to support that garbage for a few years 😢

when we met you wanted an Open Source platform that was basically YouTube.

The only semi viable option was the worst fucking PHP code I've ever seen. That was twelve years ago. I worked on Horde which is my second worst PHP experience (and I learned it in two weeks).

      Bad.

Pixel is really nice. Just saying.

      @feld @juliewebgirl

      Couldn't care less.

Centralized media has been antithema to me since 1995.

      Platforms are junk.

I literally don't care about folks that use that crap. In fact, I'll cheerfully fuck their day over, because they fuck my day over. Thirty years of end users sucking dick... because Why? Sheep herd.
