   The reports are coming in from all over the Fediverse. While pixelfed.social is understandably working to accommodate the huge influx if new users, other Pixelfed instances are operating just like normal.

   Users report these Pixelfed servers are running just fine:

   https://pixelfed.de/
   https://pixel.infosec.exchange/

   Don't worry about being on the main insrance, all Pixelfed servers talk to each other.

     @mastodonmigration Those are not the concerns people have. The concerns they have are whether these lesser instances have any staying power, or are nerd hobby projects running off a raspberry pi they pulled from a junk drawer. They're worried about leaving to switch identities and whether that is complicated. They worried about migrating and losing all their pictures again. These are not small issues. They're among the biggest and federated services don't have many good answers right now.

     @mastodonmigration @stux @jerry I'm an early pixelfed user, so I'm already locked in to using pixelfed.social, similar to my being a longtime mastodon.social user. I get the pluses and minuses to being on a mega-instance.

     The concerns I voiced are real concerns for everyday users, and reduce the appeal of federated services relative to other offerings. If the fediverse wants to grow and be a serious competitor to Facebook and friends, they need to be addressed in a more user-friendly manner.

     pixey.org and gram.social are run by @stux who also administers the mstdn.social. pixelfed.infosec is administered by @jerry. Those are good bets of these are your concerns.

     I thought Pixelfed was just a photo sharing network. Can it replace any other functions of Facebook?
