   Good morning Fedi friends!

   All eyes are on #Pixelfed this week, as #Meta censored all mentions and links to it.

   Last year I wrote about the superb interoperability between Pixelfed and #Mastodon - it was one of my first articles for #TheFutureIsFederated, which inspired me to try out more #Fediverse projects.

     I imagine that @PixelFed's servers are getting overwhelmed by traffic these days.

     I'm lucky to already have a pixelfed.social account. Still, in order not to add to @dansup's server load, I am taking the plunge:

     this morning I'll try to set up my own #Pixelfed instance, thanks to the magic of #YunoHost (Pixelfed is in their list of apps).

     I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

     @_elena I decided to run my own PixelFed instance too. So far Yunohost seems incredible! My instance is already running but I'll have to wait publishing it until I get all the settings correct. Currently I'm studying SSL certificates.

     As a #selfhosting newbie I can confirm that if you ever run into issues...

     IT'S ALWAYS DNS 😆

     Currently setting up my #Pixelfed instance via #YunoHost. I thought I had messed something up, turned to another task for 30 minutes, checked back, and things were all in order. Awww the joys and pains of DNS propagation 😅

     @therealstu can't say yet because by default Pixelfed has open registrations... so I need to turn this off (the operation isn't super straightforward for a newbie) before I share my new Pixelfed details 😅

     @sturmsucht aw Chris if only you knew! The most difficult part was struggling to find my account while looking it up in the Fediverse. ZERO results for like an hour. I tried from Mastodon, GoToSocial, Sharkey... the whole nine yards. Finally added a special permission in YunoHost's dashboard for all visitors - and voilà 😅

     I still barely know what I'm doing though - it's mostly spray and pray 🤣

     @_elena I am so confused. If content posted on Pixelfed can appear on my Mastodon timeline, and if my Mastodon messages can appear on a Pixelfed user’s timeline, and if Mastodon allows to post photos, then why do we have two separate programs (Mastodon and Pixelfed) to basically do the same thing?

     @fedipete YunoHost’s website has an excellent guide about how to install it… once you have it running on your server, installing a Fediverse project is just a click of a button (https://yunohost.org)
