Sooo.... Is there help available for understanding and fixing a bit of a tax problem? It's overwhelming, I don't understand how to navigate this mess, and I'm poor. Of course I'm poor, I'm disabled. They want to take my shitty old car.
It is not helping any that I can't even look at the paperwork without being immediately enfuriated they're coming after some broke AF disabled autist instead of fairly taxing the fucking oligarchs. <sarcasm> I am sure confiscating my shitty 2 decade old car with a massive smoking steering leak is going to balance the budget! </sarcasm>
Depending on where you are in the US, there could be a Community Action program in your area. They offer knowlegable free tax assistance for people with low income. https://communityactionpartnership.com
@hellomiakoda I don’t know much about it and it would be best to have professional help (if that was free), but a number of people have said in my hearing that you should just call the IRS and be friendly/pathetic. The workers there are not cops and are not terribly interested in your small change, so they might be able to just make it go away. I’d look around for personal accounts of that process?
@joshrivers Turns out, they took my money already. It occured to me to check my bank app and... yep, there's a big ass withdrawl labeled "garnishment". I... kinda needed those monies. That's why I stored them there, with an apparently false sense of safety.
