     @codemonkeymike @Nickiquote This is only a problem if you shop socioeconomic class stratified stores where "IoT shit" is coded as "fancy, upper class". Walmart has plenty of straight electrical (no logic whatsoever) coffee makers. And Ali has dirt cheap ones.

     @ShiitakeToast @ellyxir @codemonkeymike @Nickiquote Wouldn't both the safety valve *and* the holes in the bottom of the coffee tray have to be fully blocked for it to be dangerous? AIUI the valve is a secondary safety measure not primary.

     @ellyxir @codemonkeymike @Nickiquote my one caution about the moka pot is that if the escape valve clogs they can explode. I have a friend who nearly lost an eye. Doesn’t stop me from using it--it makes amazing coffee--but I’m always careful.
