@teratology@KuteboiCoder@Toppo@pernia He obviously wasn't asian though? all three of the people would've looked very similar to pictured. >someone from israel couldn't have blue eyes assad literally has blue eyes
Imagine being a poor, no-name bum - most of us don't have to imagine it, quite frankly - and convincing the other poors and bums that you are literally God and they'll be tortured forever if they don't obey you
@teratology@pernia@Toppo@KuteboiCoder@adachi I think that's just a left wing meme, now they're saying close to iraqi jew, which is darker than a white person but just not super dark.
anyway make jesus or mary whatever race you are, like santa claus
@adachi@KuteboiCoder@Toppo@pernia my point was that Europe curated an image of a White Jesus when he obviously wasn't white. Most historians agree he was a dark skinned Palestinian Jew, be for fucking real now.
It's no different than the Black version or Korean version of Jesus. Bonus round: the "mestiza" version of the Virgin Mary used for conversion purposes and genocide
@teratology@pernia@Toppo@KuteboiCoder@adachi it was a common shitlib thing for a while, "I don't believe in or know a thing about your stupid religion but the son of God was black, triggered???"
@sun@pernia@Toppo@KuteboiCoder@adachi are they hoteps by any chance? They claim to be the actual Israelites and also claim to be the original Indigenous people of America from time to time
@egirlyuumimain@pernia@Toppo@KuteboiCoder@teratology of course there's a continuum, and I'm not an expert, but seems like ppl now think he would have been lighter than the arabs around him which goes against the jesus is a palestinian thing. teratology is right though that europeans totally just made him look very caucasian though.
The donkey symbolism was probably due to a long running joke about Jews worshipping an ass (and the messiah arriving on one if Jews were deemed unworthy. Zechariah 9:9 vs Daniel 7:13, vis-a-vis Babylonian Talmud). That likely originated from Egypt where foreign deities were commonly associated with Seth-Typhon (depicted as donkey headed), and since the Alexandrians used it as a way of retorting against the anti-Egyptian slander from Jews about the Exodus which never happened historically.
There's a bit more on that in this book by Dr. Litwa if you're interested.
