    Interesting, but I'm not sure what I'd use it for. The bulk means it wouldn't work for my keyring or wallet tags. Larger luggage items, I guess?

      @JonnyT Yeah, I get it, but Find My nags you before your airtags are running out of juice! (I read this as the equivalent of "there was a brief power outage and Word Perfect ate my last four hours' of work" stories from the 80s/90s before auto-save was universal.)

        AirTag’s worst feature gets fixed forever by this new add-on accessory - 9to5Mac
        from Ryan Christoffel
        Apple’s AirTag is a great product, but its fatal flaw is battery life. There’s a new add-on accessory just launched that solves that.

      @JonnyT I've had airtags since they came out and I can state with some certainty that they DO warn you before they run out (unless you turn off notifications, of course ...)

      @cstross Can't say I know. Bought some for the first time recently and my reaction was similar to yours - I thought they forewarn you and that the battery life was about a year's worth anyway.

      @jgobble @philsplace Probably not: Time Capsule hit end of life a few years back and Apple is out of the wifi mesh market (no more Airports).

      @cstross

      I just ordered two.

      I have an air tag in my camper. One will go there. (and I’m hoping it makes it less likely you could hear it beeping)

      And I bought the second just because of the pricing… but I think it will go into the dry bag for my inflatable kayaks.

      Both are items I want to work when I need them and hope I never do.

      @otolithe For a car you probably want a tracker that has its own cellular radio stage: Airtags won't stop a prepared car thief.
