@sindarina So the law ain't clear who it's applied to? Is that even legal, or sth. definitely being cleaned up by your highest court later on?
Fedi instances wouldn't even be able - or willing - to check any age, or even user origin. This law is phenomenal nonsense even without analyzing its intention.

@Natanox @sindarina The law is irrelevant to fedi instances outside Australia and last I heard it's also irrelevant to instances with fewer than 1M users.

@jawnsy @dalias @sindarina @dansup Would definitely have to be well prepared and managed.
Fortunately the Fedi is decentralized, so Dan could lean into it without centralizing anything around him, therefore circumventing 99.9% of the danger. 😉 Even if it's just some kids-friendly "information website" pointing to ready-to-use Fedi instances as well as managed hosting providers for parents, schools etc.
Take advantage of politicians not understanding tech. They won't give you an inch otherwise.
